I am a earthquake retrofitting contractor, many foundations have efflorescence and cracks, some have basement walls that are bowed. Question, what waterproofing liquid can I apply to "Re-constitute the concrete", something that will reacte with the alkali salts and rebond the concrete. I suppose I can use Fortress or Stablwall for the basement bowing...What products are out there that won"t break the bank. I am looking for encapsulants, i.e. liquid that will penetrate and waterproof old concrete foundations

Little George,

Good to hear from the west coast, earthquake country. The majority of our membership etc, is east of the Mississippi.

Of course Fortress Stabilization Systems and Stabile wall can be effective in upgrading sesmic tolerences. Not so easy in coatings. Positive or negative side? Cementious or Polymer. Polymers are very popular but have suspect bonding capibilities. A popular coating was Thorough Seal with fiberglass strands. However strands are not attached and work little in compression as opposed to tension.

There are many liquid rubber coatings now on the market. Unfortunately I do not know enough to comment.
