Hi, I have limited knowledge with concrete, waterproofing, etc. We are in a bind, we need to make more living space in our home, and do not have the money to pay for an addition. I have been in a lot of basements where they were fixed up real nice and made into exercise rooms, computer rooms, offices, dens, etc, and the were all quite nice. My basement has water that comes through the walls when it is very wet and rainy outside. It is not so much water that I have to pump it out, but sometimes, I do use a shop vac to clean it up. The problem with the foundation is that it is old and cracked.
I had tried using a compression concrete to seal the cracks and then I used a white paint type product to "waterproof" the walls. I forget what it was called, but it was expensive, and did not work. The water still comes through. I am willing to hire a reputable company to solve my problems in my basement. Can anyone provide me any advice? I live in zip 12771.

It is very difficult to hold back water pressure (hydrostatic pressure) head with cement based products and paints. Water seeks a level and does not compress.

For example: You can not put 10 oz of water in an 8 oz glass. We try to be nuetral in recommending companies. Please check our membership directory for a contractor near you. If a company is a member then there is at least some dedication to our industry as well as products used.
