I've got about 8 drains in the floor through visual inspection seem to be clogged.

The house was built in 1880 -- and she leaks water when the temp changes drastically as it has in twice in the past week. We use a utility pump to get the majority of the water out and then the drains seem to pick up overall.

What should we do? We're first time homebuyers and we're pretty worried.

A home this old can be confusing, in where drains lead to,if they lead anywhere.Chances are good that drain tile system needs upgrading. Much like a roof or siding that have a service life. Many times it is easier to install new system than to try to open very old drains.

Good idea, we're having the floor drains scoped tomorrow and will know if they do lead anywhere. thanks for your insight.
