I have a 100+ yr old stone wall in the basement that the old surface cement is crumbling.
Question: After I remove the loose cement..... what is the method and materials for re-surfacing the old packed stone walls?

I have no moisture issues.... Just aged walls need resurfacing

Stucco?
Mesh lath?
Cement?..... Please advise.

Thanks Stripper John

There is no one correct answer for this.

There are too many variables. If the surface cement is crumbling it is the break down of silica in the mortar. You must be careful with old stone walls, you can regrout for asthetics but is the structural integrity of foundation intact.

Is this plaster coat? What are your plans for basement?
