I'm getting various answers from contractors on my question. I need to know if an interior water drainage pipe connected to a sump pump is considered waterproofing? Others call it water control...what is it really and is it the best way to get rid of water?

Most basements are built with exterior drain tile that stops the water from entering at the bottom of wall. However when they fail over time, it may be difficult to excavate and replace them. There are obstacles such as attached garages, decking, porches, additions landscaping etc. So interior drain tiles are used which do not require excavation and re-landscaping etc. In a perfect scenario excavating replacing drain tile and sealing foundation walls is ideal.
