Water problem under slab

I own a 40 year old home in Huber Heights, Ohio built on a concrete slab foundation. When it rains a considerable amount and the ground water table comes up, I see water in the slab openings where the heating/cooling ducts are. The water has never flooded into the house but at times there is up to 5 inches of water in the duct openings. So far, I have pumped out the water and used a commercial dehumidifier to dry out the house. Also, after a few days and the water table goes back down, the water goes away. I suspect there is a crack in the concrete slab where the furnace fan forces air down into the ducts. What should I do first?

This why slab foundations are problems. I assume that all the interior is living space, minus laundry room.A interior solution would be very messy, but may be needed. No draintile system are usually found on slabs on grade. A exterior system woulld catch water from around home and run to a sump pump or sanitary drain. This is assuming water is pushing this direction. Water in vents is a problem that must be dealt with promptly. When furnance turns on air born bacteria is blown through the home.

What did you end up doing? i have replaced my in floor duct with in attic heating system, did you get rid of water? I still have the water in my in slab ductwork on and off, I was going to seal with concrete?

this water problem could be from the install of piers to level the home after they level a home most foundation companys don,t slurry pump the foundation voids thus when it rains the voids fill with water.the only way to stop this is to soil slurry pump the foundation voids .we see this alot in texas to but this can be address .don,t know if you can find anybody to do this in your area of the country.check out (montysoil.com) as for as we know they have a machine that can mix 60/40 soil which they add portland cement to the mix not a lot this is use the help burn the water out of the soil and speed up the setting or in other words it will take the moisture out of the soil under the slab.which is the most important issue
