Finishing a basement
We have a fairly new house (about a year and a half old) and we would like to finish the basment. Our exterior walls are waterproofed, but I wanted to know if I should waterproof the interior walls as well. I have been getting different advice from the professionals here and not sure what to do. It is a daylight basement and we have had some settlement issues. Our floors have cracked so we intend to waterproof them. Any suggestions would be helpful

Finishing a basement
Is the foundation poured concrete or masonry? Also what kind of waterproofing is on the exterior.
Concrete walls are losing water/moisture for upto three years. Coating the walls traps moisture in walls. As well as drying and shrinkage cracks can still occur for 3 years. With any type of foundation a preventative waterproofing system could be installed prior to finishing basement. |
